Ch. 4 – Arizona…. Hey won’t ya go my way

After traveling down the mother road for almost 4 weeks now I made it to the small town of Williams Arizona at about 6 pm, found my campground for the night, got stuff set up and got the scooter off the RV and took a ride around town.  I got a nice steak dinner at a place called Rod’s and made note of the laundromat next door and where I could park the RV.

The next morning, I got up, got breakfast and got ready for the day.  I had booked a deluxe ticket on the train ride up to the Grand Canyon.  It looked amazing! I knew that I had to come back the next day, as the train was set to leave before I really had a chance to explore everything in the 2 hours that we had.  On the way back to Williams we got robbed on the train, which we all played along with. I took the time to see if I would be able to park the RV at least or better yet, camp up there.  I was not able to be able to camp in the Grand Canyon village, but it was a mile from there and I could ride the scooter up to the village.

I needed to get laundry done that night if possible.  I asked my car attendant if they had a taxi or Uber type service in town.  He gave me the number of a taxi service.  I texted them and asked if they could pick me up a bit later and take me to the laundromat.  This was better than unhooking the RV, driving it into town and trying to park it and then go back and hook up again.

Sunday night must be the night for laundry for the whole town because that place was packed.  I separated my clothes into lights and darks and tossed in a laundry pod as people couldn’t help but notice the obvious juvenile looking clothes I was loading into the machines.  I found an empty area and waddled my padded ass over there and sat down in a seat and got on the iPad and checked my email and messages.  I texted my mom.  I had been letting her know in more realtime about where I was at after the whole stranded in Texas incident.

Hey mom, just checking in…
went to Grand Canyon today,
probably going back tomorrow.

That’s nice, hope you had a great time.
I remember we went years ago when you were still in diapers
.

LOL. I still am in diapers

You know what I meant….  Stay safe, call sometime.

Will do, love you too

I got my clothes from the washer and into the dryer and finished checking my online accounts as well.  I ordered a pizza to be delivered to the RV when I got back there.  I ate while while watching TV and folding the clothes back up and storing them.

I decided to sleep in that next morning since I was up so early yesterday and I had to move the RV to the new place.  At about 10 am I had to finally get out of bed or risk leaking onto the sheets, which I had just washed.  I got up, changed out of my sodden diaper and hopped into the shower despite that jerk Zorro meowing loudly because I had not fed him yet.  As soon as I stepped out of the shower. MEOW!! Meow, meow.  “You are going to have to wait for a few” I said as I grabbed a fresh diaper, onsie and some shorts.  After getting diapered up I fed his excellency so he would leave me alone while I made my breakfast and ate it.  The video I started to upload last night had finished and I set the date and time for it to go public 4 days from now.  I noticed that I had a comment from “TxTireGuy”  How those tires holding up?  To which I replied that they were good.

It was about 1PM that I got everything packed up, did my walk around and pulled out of my spot to make the hour trip up towards the Grand Canyon village.  I pulled into the campground and got my RV setup and plugged in so I could leave the AC running for Zorro.  I got the scooter off the back of the RV and headed out.

I drove all around the Grand Canyon, taking photos, and videos.  As the light of the evening started to dim, to a sunset I shot several more photos and some timelapse and then I headed back to the campground.  I fed the cat, got my little grill setup and grilled some brats.

I got up early the next morning to get into the park at a different vantage point and get the sunrise as it came up and blanketed the canyon with light.  That was a cool morning, as I had waited in a lawn chair while every 30 seconds, I could hear my camera beep that it took another frame of video.  After almost 2 hours I had what I needed and headed back to the RV Park to get changed and get some breakfast too.

This last little trip reminded me that the scooter is not the most opportune vehicle when it is cold and rainy, plus I am traveling to some places that I could encounter wildlife.  Plus, ever try to balance a bag chair, and backpack of camera gear.  I’ll be on the lookout for something.

I stayed that day and night near the grand canyon, just riding around the park, vlogging and stuff.  The next morning I would head out westward.  I stopped off in a town called Seligman, and just so happened to stop and get a haircut and grab a bite to eat.  Next stop Kingman AZ, for a railroad museum and the Arizona Route 66 Visitors center before heading to a campground for the night.

Since it was the weekend of the 4th of July (actually July 4 was Monday)  I stayed in Kingman for a nice fireworks show, even hit up the neighboring towns to see their fireworks.

I decided to explore and blog some more around the area for the next week. Went to Oatman and did a blog on the burros, pieced together some more grand canyon stuff so I had a filler to stretch out more footage in the grand canyon; as I did not want to upload any stuff past the Grand Canyon until I was out of the area.
