Ch. 41 – Back to land.

Saturday morning we had 8:00 AM flight back to Fort Wayne; arriving back at 11:00 am.  We had to be up and on the road by like 6:00 AM, so we had not gotten much out of our luggage, just what we needed to change with and into.  Around 5:30 am Max went and got a luggage cart and then started loading it up as me and the twins woke up.  We ended up just getting fresh diapers and going to the airport in our PJ’s.

We pulled up to the airport and unloaded our luggage to the plane.  The rental car company would pick up the car from there.

The charter had a lounge with donuts and danish’s and drinks in it, so we ate that to tide us over.  We would be flying with some others this time as well.  Oh the looks we got being in our character PJs and the obvious diaper bulge and crinkle.

By 8:30 we were in the air and back asleep.  There was a stop in Nashville to let some people off. Then on to Fort Wayne.  Carl was waiting for us when we landed. The ground crew got our luggage out and we loaded it up.

“Must have been an early morning, you did not even get out of your PJ’s.  They did not drive you crazy the entire week?” Carl asked

“No, they were perfect gentlemen the entire time, I think they had fun doing the zipline in Haiti, but I am not sure, there was lots of screaming” I said

“It was amazing dad! I almost chickened out but they pushed us off and there was no stopping” David said

“We got it on video too.”  Riley butted in

“Oh I bet that is some good video too, we’ll have to see it when we get home, your mom and I missed you, and she should be home when we get there.” Carl said

Max offered to drive back so that Carl could give his attention to what the boys were saying instead of trying to focus on driving.

Soon we crossed the state line back into Ohio, which meant that we were about 5 minutes from their house.  As we turned down the road I see their new travel trailer sitting in the driveway.

“I see you got your trailer back.  Did they get you all fixed up?” I said

“Yeah, new fridge, fixed a water leak and new water pump, new mattresses and added solar.  Got it back Wednesday and Maria was cleaning it up since.  Probably going to be up on opening weekend of the campground if you have room.” Carl said

“Yes, dad said that the electric and water and sewer passed inspection in the new area, so there will certainly be space back there, and we can always re-arrange my RV’s in the main campground as well.  I hope this investment pays off, I dropped close to five hundred grand into upgrading the main park and this new section.  The bunkhouse is just needing finishing, which Max and I are going to check on this coming week.  We decided to pour camper pads where the cabins are going.   That way they are not sitting on the ground, and if we don’t get them in, we can use it for campers.” I said

“Sounds like a plan.  OK Boys, I bet your need to get changed and get your bags unpacked, laundry hampers are in your room, fill them up and then the washer should be free for you to start them. Mom should be home soon.” Carl said

“You two sticking around?” Carl asked to see if they need to prepare enough food for us.

“We can stick around, Max and I need to get our luggage out of the van and into the jeep. Do you have my keys?” I asked

“Sure, I was tempted to take it muddin, but it wasn’t lifted up high enough, and I didn’t want to damage it.  I did drive it to work one day” Carl said grabbing the keys off the key hooks in the kitchen.

Max and I went outside and unloaded the van into the back of the Jeep. I kept my macbook out, as I knew that I would have to show photos and videos.

Right about the time we got everything packed up, we see Carl’s pickup truck lumbering up the road, Maria and Maggie were coming home from the store.

“You two help me carry this stuff in, I got a couple buckets of chicken from the store, and sides.” She said as she leaned in for a hug.

“Where are my manners?  Did you all have a good time on the cruise?  Did those two drive you crazy? Did they behave?” She asked

“Mom they were fine, and it was a fun time.  You and dad should go.” Max said

“You know your dad, no flying, no boating.” Maria said

We helped carry the food in and set it on the counter.  Just about then David and Riley emerged from their room with the hamper of dirty laundry.  They stop what they were doing to greet their mother.

“Did you two have fun on your trip?  Take lots of photos and videos?  You’ll have to tell me all about it after dinner.  Go get those clothes started and then come back up and we can eat” Maria said

We stuck around for a couple of hours before we had to leave to head home.

It was nice to sleep in my own bed at home that night, but I knew we had to go to the campground in the morning and relieve mom and dad.  Max started a load of laundry before going to bed himself.  I think I was asleep before he even came in to say goodnight.
