Ch. 10 – Alone at sea, found some fans

I had that next week to think about what was on my mind.  I didn’t hook up with anybody this time, and kept to myself.  I honestly got off in port in Bermuda and the other stops, but just long enough to go shopping and got back on the ship.  I ended up finding a nice spot on the lounge deck and would sit there and catch up on emails, reviewing and answering comments, FaceTiming my parents, checking on the kitty cat, and working on some plans for after the cruise.  I also edited videos and wrote blog posts and more.

The crew was used to seeing me in all sorts of juvenile outfits, some older adults gave me weird looks, most probably thought I was special.  The staff always seemed to fawn over me, might have been the nice tips, or might have been that I am easy to please.  They always seemed to have some fruity drinks, be it smoothies, virgin daiquiris, or just a simple iced tea.

My dinner table mates weren’t anywhere near as interesting this cruise, drunk college kids, the first 3 nights out of the 6 person table there were just myself and 1 or two others.  The 4th night my waiter placed a family of 4 at the table with me, of course they asked if I was ok with it or not.  I said “why not, no problem for me”

When the mom and dad came by, the dad looked at me with a raised eyebrow, the mom broke the ice and said “well how cute are you, we’ve been wanting to talk to you all cruise”

Me taken aback, could only get an “uh ok.  I’m Jason, nice to meet you, look if my attire is a problem, I can ask them to move me to a single table”

“No, it is perfectly fine the father pipped up, we all should be as brave and confident as you to be comfortable with their self.  I’m Jeff and this is my wife Cindy, my boys Axl and Marcus.” He said as they sat down. The boys waiving hello.

At first guess the boys were probably 11 to 13, just at that age where they will follow mom and dad around, not old enough to be left alone, just beginning to be embarrassed to be around mom and dad; give it a year and the older one will refuse to accompany them.  Both of them had shorts on with long calf high socks on, and the youngest one kinda had a walk much like an old western cowboy who just got off a horse, swaying back and forth.

“So uh where you all from, Ohio here, but I’ve been traveling for the last 5 months almost.” I said

“Were from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada” Cindy said

I almost choked on the way they say it. It sounded like vagina, except with an R.  “Is that how it’s pronounced” I asked

“Yes, you all probably call it Rah GEEna” Jeff said

I nodded my head yes.  “So how old are your boys?”

“I’m 12” The older one who was introduced as Axl said, and he pointed to Marcus and said he was 10.

“Cool, Believe it or not I’m 25” I said

“I’d have guessed maybe 4 or 5” Marcus said, smiling and giggling

“Yeah I get that often I must look young for my age or something” I said, taking it all in stride.

“It’s ok sweetie, we know that some people are children who will never grow up, don’t we she said looking at the boys” Cindy said, as the boys nodded in unison.

We all placed our orders and started the appetizers.

“We’re sort of fans of yours, I think we’ve seen all your videos” Jeff said

OH CRAP! People know who I am, and their kids watch me.

“I wish I could go out dressed like you do”, Axl said, which caught me WAY off guard

“Really?” I said wondering why an almost teenager would want to dress like me

“We wear diapers too” Marcus said, and not too quietly

“Both the boys are incontinent due to birth defects, spina bifida.  It effects Marcus more in the walking department but both of them have bladder and sometimes bowel incontinence. But they both know that they can regress if it helps them handle their situation” Jeff said

“I should be honest with you, I am not incontinent, but am an adult baby, I wear by choice” I said, as I make sure I never say I am incontinent in my videos.  “My videos aren’t really geared for children either”

“It’s ok” Axl said, “we know there are people out there who like wearing, you have to be who you feel like.  I mean I have to wear, but it doesn’t mean that I have to be ashamed about it.  We got things like onesies and footie jammies too, and sometimes when I have a bad day I just like to hug my teddy bear and drink a bottle”

“I was a bedwetter growing up, and probably stayed in them longer than I needed to be, I was probably a little older than you when my parents thought I stopped, but that is when my little side just was getting started.”

We made small talk about the life on the road, how Canada was, and that I might actually get up there some day.  How the kids liked school and how they handled the incontinence with kids their age being so mean.

I waited until they had ordered dessert before ordering mine; it would seem rude to eat a ton of sweets in front of the kids, if their parents did not let them order… but I had no fear, as both boys ordered cake and ice cream.  I followed suit as well.

We all finished up and I bid them farewell and said I would see them around, and they were welcome to sit with me anytime and thanks for following my blog.

I did see them later that night at the outdoor movie and this time both boys were in wheelchairs and their PJ’s, and I could definitely see a diaper bulge on both.  Axel even had a childish sippy cup he was actively drinking from as well.

“Nice to see you again” I said

“Figured we would get them ready for bed and then catch the late movie.  They both got tired of walking around, so it is better to just use the wheelchairs.” Cindy said, as she sipped a drink.

I was headed to a table to work on my laptop to send and read my emails and update my blog.  I had some stickers in my laptop bag for the boys as well, which they were thankful for.

I quickly finished up the work I had to do and watched the rest of the movie.  At the end I saw Cindy and Jeff wheeling two sleeping boys towards the elevators, as I stepped into another one and back to my suite where I had a soaked diaper to change and then I fell asleep with a bottle of sugar free juice.

I would see the family around here and there on the cruise, and we ate dinner that last night of the cruise again.  This time both were in their wheelchairs, walking around this big ship was just too much for them and they got tired quickly.  Heck I logged like 20 miles of walking this cruise and most of the time I sat in one place all day.

I did notice that this time, both boys had their sippy cups with them and were noticeably dressed a bit more childish in clothes that had juvenile prints on them, like paw patrol, Dora, Sesame Street, and such on them.

“Nice outfits guys” I said when I saw them

“Thank you” They both said

“I decided that I wanted to wear my little stuff, and Marcus said he would too” Axel said

“Did you guys have fun on the cruise?” I asked

“We sure did, it was so much fun” Marcus said

“I personally am ready to get back in my RV and get my kitty and hit the road again, but mostly to sleep in my own bed” I said

“Me too, I miss my bed at home” Marcus said

“So any plans after the cruise or just headed home?” I asked

“I dunno, there may be a surprise or two after the cruise, or then again we may just go home.  I guess the boys will just have to wait and see” Jeff said.  “You?”

“Also not entirely sure, I just tend to go where the wind blows me.  I know I got to pick up my cat Zorro, and the RV, might meet up with a friend, might hit Disney again, or may just head up the coast” I said, being honest, as I had several things still up in the air.

We finished dinner and exchanged contact info.

On my final night when the staff all had their envelopes I made sure my cabin steward that I had for both cruises was tipped very very well. I think he was tipped $1000, and the waiter a couple hundred too.

I had went back to my suite that night and started packing everything up.  I had a duffle bag full of diapers to pack up including larger things of powder and wipes and such.  I placed those outside my cabin door that night to have them unloaded off the ship, so that morning I would only need to drag my camera case, and a small rolling suitcase and my backpack/diaper bag off with me.  I laid out what I was going to wear in the morning when I got up.  I then logged in on my laptop and worked out some final details before tomorrow.

About an 10:30 PM I got a text on my phone.  It was Cindy, I knew because I had saved their info on my phone.

Hello Jason, This is Cindy,I messed up and set all our bags outside the door, and forgot to keep back enough diapers, and they already took ours.  Do you have any spares?  If not I can check medical and see or try to get some baby diapers.

Yes I have some smaller ones, what’s your cabin?

It was a good thing that she had texted when she did, as they had not yet came to get my suitcase yet, my cabin steward said they would get mine in the early morning.  I grabbed some smaller ABU and Tykables, along with some pull-up style diapers and put them in a bag and made my way to their cabin.

I knew I was in the right place as the door number plate also had a wheelchair logo on it, meaning it was a handicapped room.  I knocked on the door and  Cindy answered and invited me in.  Jeff was sitting on the balcony and I could see and hear the boys playing. She invited me in and the boys looked over from the TV and noticed me and said hello but didn’t come over right away.

“I tried to find some of the ones I had that were smaller, and there’s a few goodnites that I had as well.  Do you think that will get you through the night and tomorrow till we all get off the ship” I asked

“Yes those should be enough, I just have to change them for bed, and then in the morning.  If you give me a few I will get them changed and then I was hoping to talk a bit to you.” Cindy said as she picked up the diapers and walked over to the boys who were still in their wheelchairs.

She started with Axel, the older one, by helping him get out of his chair and into the bed.  She then grabbed the waistband of his track pants and pulled them down revealing the long leg braces and over the knee length socks that he wore, and that he had a onsie on too.  She started by removing the rigid leg brace that was overtop of the sock. Then the socks and finally she unsnapped the onsie and pushed it up out of the way revealing a wet looking plain white diaper with a blue wetness indicator.

She motioned for me to go out on the balcony and join Jeff.

“Well good evening buddy” Jeff said to me in a fatherly tone

“Hi, how ya doing” I replied back as I took a seat. “So did you tell the boys that they are going to Disney tomorrow?”

“Nope, it is going to be a surprise to them.  Heck it was a surprise to us too!” Cindy said.

I had surprised them with 4 day park hopper tickets to Disney and some universal tickets as well.

“Yeah I have a few supporters who were able to pull some strings, I just can’t see wasting a good trip to Florida and not going to Disney.  When you told me that you all had no definite return date to Canada, as you’re allowed to be in the US for up to 60 days.  I made a few inquiries with my connections.” I said, knowing that I had a few ABDL friends in the Orlando area who worked at the theme parks in management, and I might have also paid for some of it too… call it a Make a wish trip if you will.

“So how do the boys handle being in school with other kids and having to deal with their disability and being in diapers?” I asked, knowing it has to be tough at their age.

“Axel has had a rough year, and Marcus is noticing issues too. Axel has realized that other kids see and treat him different, he lags socially, as he always says ‘mom, nobody invites me over as I’m no fun’.  Nobody invites them to sleep over, many of the kids make comments about diapers, or if they have a bowel accident and smells.” Jeff said

“When they were 4 and 6 it was not as hard as not too many people would say something if a diaper or pull-up peaked out, now when you take a 12 year old into the ladies room people get all bent out of shape, because there’s not always a family restroom to use.  Not to mention that most teenagers don’t have their mom changing their diapers; but he will change himself if he has to he just likes me to do it and I don’t object.  At home they have medical beds with rails, so they sometimes get embarrassed to have friends over who might say something.” Cindy lamented

“The few friends they have, are good kids and we are so thankful that they are great kids. Though as they get older, those friends become fewer, as they get involved in sports and other friends” Jeff said

“Again thank you so much for your company this trip, and for the tickets.  I’ve told the boys that they can be big boys or not, that I don’t care. They deserve this time to be themselves” Cindy said

“Well it is getting late, I best get back to my room and get done packing” I said as I slipped quietly out of the suite as the two boys were sleeping.

I got back to my suite around midnight, got changed and fell asleep.

The next morning my cabin steward had left me a handwritten note on the table along with my normal coffee and danish.

Thank you so very much for cruising with us
and allowing me to serve you
these past two weeks.
You have been a very good little boy
and your generosity is so greatly appreciated.
Enjoy your travels.

I chuckled at the ‘ very good little boy’ part, as I am certain he knew just what I was this whole time, a good little boy.

I ate my breakfast, got a shower, got changed and then loaded up the remaining stuff into my bags and got off the ship to customs.  I cleared customs and headed out to the shuttle that took me over to my car.  Quickly loaded the car up and headed over to where the RV was parked. I unloaded my luggage from the car, checked my batteries that they were charged up, checked my propane, and water levels, and then checked to see if my freezer stuff had stayed frozen or not… luckily nothing thawed out.

I grabbed the cat carrier that I have for when I take Zorro to the vet, just in case somebody was cranky when I went and got him, and then I headed over to the kitty kat cabana to grab him.  Needless to say he was not happy with me, he ran up to me and hissed and hissed at me. The staff helped me calm him down and got him into the carrier, which he REALLY did not like one bit.  We drove back to where the RV was and I let him out and he hissed and meowed at me for about 10 minutes.  I mean I get it, I just up and left him somewhere for 2 weeks, but he got a vacation too.

Eventually he calmed down as the heat in the RV slowly cooled down as well.  Since I was just storing the RV, I could not have a 50 amp hookup to be able to run the AC, so I had to just have the fridge only plugged in along with the trickle charger for the batteries.  We had to find a place to plug in and cool down this RV.  Luckily I needed fresh water as well.
