We finished out vacation with Max’s family over the next few days. Then we helped them pack up, and bid them farewell on their drive back home. We left Fort Wilderness and found an RV park closer to the airport, but not before dropping the kitty off at the pet resort for 2 weeks, again Kitty not happy.
The next morning I turned off the gas, drained the tanks and plugged in the RV and turned off everything except the fridge. We got an Uber to the smaller air strip where a small jet was waiting. My assistant had booked space on a charter jet for the quick 3 hour flight to the frozen tundra.
I must say it was so nice to get a short security line. We walked straight to the plane, boarded and the door closed. We had plenty of legroom too.
My parents met us at the airport and took us to my house. As soon as I walked in I knew somebody had been in there, as things looked re-arranged, my bedroom door was shut, and I never leave the rooms shut so the heat circulates. A Christmas tree was put up and had gifts under it too.
“Surprise, we did some decorating while you were gone.” My mom said
“Set your luggage down here and let’s get some dinner” My dad said as they ushered us out the door.
We went to the local Bob Evans for dinner and then back to my house.
“Ok, so this one is for you” dad said as he handed me a present, “This one for Max, then your mom. Now you can open them”.
I got a calendar with some of my photos on it, Max got some grill utensils and stuff, mom got some jewelry. I got my parents a 7 night cruise with a balcony suite, for their anniversary.
At this point I was getting to be a bit soggy and was about to excuse myself to go get changed. “I gotta get changed here soon” I said
“Ok, just wait for a moment. Now for your last present” My dad said. “Go open your room up”
I got up and walked to my bedroom door and flicked on the light and was speechless, I just started crying. “How, when, why”
“I hope it makes you happy for years, I know that you’d have eventually bought one, but the ones you buy are so institutional, plus you need something for you” My dad said
“I decorated too” My mom said
“Did you know about this” I said to Max, to which he nodded
“Merry Christmas baby, I love you” Max said
So now that you read this far, what did I get?
When I flicked the light on I saw a giant wooden stained crib, and a matching changing table, with a giant Winnie the Pooh decal on it, diaper disposal like I have in the RV, and a mural on the wall. They spent some time on this really.
“I’ve been working on the crib since when we came back from Louisiana, your mom used her Cricut to do the decals on everything as well.” My dad said
“I found a diaper pail like you have in the RV on Facebook market, and ordered the bedding on Amazon” My mom said
“So this is why you turned down the offer to fly down to Florida” I said
“Yeah, we really wanted to have you see this before you started peeping on the video cameras. I had the inside ones taken offline, but I knew you would not buy it for too long before you’d send somebody to check them, and Max knew he would not be able to keep you from doing that” My dad said
“Oh you all how crafty of you” I said still surprised how they pulled it all off without me catching on.
“Let’s get you ready for bed and then you can try it out” Max said and I basically jumped up on the changing table to get changed.
Fresh in my jammies, I hopped into the crib as Max closed the side of it up to see how high it goes.
“Perfect height” My dad said
“Yep and the video baby monitor will be great too” Max said
“Ok well let’s leave the baby and go play some cards” My mom said as she turned out the lights, leaving just the swirling stars on the ceiling.
“Ha Ha real funny, now let me out” I said shaking the crib rail, which didn’t budge
They left me, they really left me! Ok, it was only for about 5 minutes, but I had resigned my fate that I was NOT getting out. If I could get my leg over the rail, there would be like a 6 foot drop to the floor, and there is not that much room between the top of the rail and the ceiling. I’d probably get stuck.
Right about as I had curled up and faced the fact that I was here, Max came back in and dimmed up the lights and got me out “Aww baby, did you think daddy had left you here”
To which I nodded that yes I had thought that. We went out and played cards until late in the night and then I did say I wanted to go to bed. Max walked me to the crib and I climbed in and soon after the rail was up I drifted off to sleep, hugging my teddy bear. Life was great!
I slept in that next day till about noon when Max came in to check on me. Without asking he slipped his finger inside my diaper, which really woke me up.
“Let’s get you changed baby. Did you sleep good?”
“Mmmhmm” I said around my pacifier as I sat up and swing my legs over the side of the crib and hopped down and went straight to the changing table, where Max expertly changed me.
Next onto the kitchen, and I was really not awake yet, I needed my coffee.
“Ok, hop up here” Max said as he pointed to a new chair. I was too sleepy to realize what it was until he slid the tray in place.
“Where’d this come from?” I said astounded
“Your dad. He had it out in the truck last night and put it in the garage when they left. I went and got it in here this morning while you were sleeping. We have another for the RV and it packs up as a directors chair. I figure we could store it underneath or behind the sofa if need be.” He said
“I just love this all so much” I said as I started to tear up.
“Now don’t start crying on me” He said.
I texted my dad and said how thankful I was for the stuff, to which he said I was welcome and it was fun making the items, knowing how much they would mean to me.
We spent the day deep cleaning the house, talking about decorating ideas for my nursery here and more. We relaxed after the housework and decided to get cleaned up and head into town for some dinner, while we both can cook, it is nice to not have to all the time. We just hit the local sports bar and got some wings, played some tunes on the jukebox and saw some old friends.
We said ‘Hi, what you been up to, not seen you around, etc’. A few were surprised at my YouTube content, wondering if it was all real; to which Max and I affirmed that it is real, I am a 25 year old toddler and he is my Daddy.
