Ch. 7 – Rocky Moutain High

After breakfast, around noon, I bid Jake farewell and headed south and then east towards the Rocky Mountains. I ended up stopping off about halfway on the way to the rockies in a town called Rawlins.  Finally making it to the rockies, I spent a couple days there visiting all the sites, saw a bunch of wildlife including bears, elk and birds and such.

I ended up driving the whole way from Estes park to the other side of the park, grand lake one day, stayed overnight and drove back the next morning.  That was a long trip.

I had unhitched the car at a parking lot and left a note saying I would return in a day; this way I didn’t have the extra weight and length of the car.  I honestly think I should have left the RV at the RV park I was at in Estes park and drove the car and stayed in a hotel.  At the heights that I travelled the wind blew the RV all over the place. I barely got faster than 15 MPH.

Honestly I think I could live in the RV permanently, get up in a new place each day and explore them.  I think I spent maybe 5 days there before I moved along to Fort Collins where I stayed a few days and relaxed again and let the mail catch up with me.  I also visited several brewery’s and participated in a pride parade, and went to another drive-in movie.  In addition to that fun I decided to meet up with another group of ABDLs for a munch.

I next travelled out of Colorado, back up through Wyoming and over to the Mount Rushmore area.  I spent a night at a Walmart parking lot just to sleep and the next day arrived in Sturgis SD.  I toured the motorcycle museum, then headed over to deadwood to see where some celebrities of the Wild West are buried.

I ambled up the road to outside of Keystone SD.  I drove the car over to Mount Rushmore  for the night time lighting and then went the next day for the daytime activities.  Then I went to the Crazy Horse Memorial as well.  After that, for some reason I just felt like I was ready to move on.

I got back on the interstate and kept seeing signs for Wall Drug in Wall SD.  After probably 40 signs I decided to stop.  I perused the shops and the massive complex that is Wall Drugs.  Got a bite to eat and a milkshake (in hopes it would bring all the boys to the yard – it didn’t).

I seriously for a moment forgot what I was dressed in when I went up to pay.

“Well look at you looking all cute” the middle aged lady behind the counter said as I reached in my pocket for my wallet and pulled out that gold Amex.

“Thank you” I said as I blushed and handed over the card

“I can see somebody likes fire trucks” She said

“Yeah, and dinosaurs, and really everything child like” I said confidently as I took my tray and headed to a table to eat.

I stopped off at a local coffee roaster and got a couple bags of coffee that were flavored like Turtles and Kailua, this is gonna be good in the morning.

I headed over to the Badlands national park and to a campground inside the park.  I found that the cellular coverage was good there, and I could stay for up to 14 days.  I ended up seeing the sights in the car and then coming back to the RV in the afternoon.  I got some great sunrise and sunsets and time lapses there too.

I had basically just chilled for two days.  I chatted with George from Texas and Jake from up near the Tetons.  Come to find out George had told his dad about himself one night when his dad got on the subject of me.  He said that didn’t go over all that well, but he didn’t care.

Jake was still trying to talk me into coming back up his way, but I made it clear that I had a roadmap of places to stop at, but may come back when I come out that way again.

I got an email from Luke, who said that he and Josh were back on the road again.  He said that he was not really staying on top of Josh about getting out of his night diaper, and even has let him wear all day. He said that time is too short to make a big deal out of things.

I stayed for 4 days in the badlands before heading out.  My next planned stop was Branson, MO – always hear so many things about it, thought I’d see what the whole thing was about.

I stopped off at some towns here and there, took my time getting there as well, it was 850 miles, so I took about 3 days to get there, found a campground and then booked some shows.   Honestly I don’t see the whole appeal to it, after seeing one show, I was almost bored.  However, I was here to relax and have fun, so I just started to look for the off the beaten path stuff.  I found a train excursion and booked a ticket.  It was a nice way to spend a few hours seeing the scenery without me having to drive.  I had made the reservation for 4 days at the RV park and mainly just hung out during the day cleaning up the RV, working on content for my videos, doing voice overs, and picking up packages and getting packages delivered.

From Branson I moved along to Memphis TN.  I could only stay 2 days there.  I toured Graceland, really can you even go to Memphis and not go there?  I went out on the town as an adult on the famous Beale Street.  The next day I enjoyed the Memphis Zoo as my full toddler self, getting strange looks from over protective helicopter moms.  I love the Zoo, it is the perfect place to get into little mode for me.  I walked around there until they closed.  I checked my fitbit and I had walked over 20 miles.

The next day I slept in until like noon and boy were my legs tired.  Good thing I had worn a hat and sunscreen, because there were places on me that got quite a tan.
